Slippery Elm (Ulmus rubra): is a tree valued for its inner bark, which contains mucilage composed of complex polysaccharides. When combined with water, these compounds develop a characteristic slippery, gel-like texture. Slippery elm has a long history in traditional digestive herbal formulas.
Marshmallow Root (Althaea officinalis): contains mucilage, including complex polysaccharides such as arabinogalactans and rhamnogalacturonans. These compounds contribute to the root's smooth, slippery texture when hydrated.
Pau d'Arco (Handroanthus spp.): is another bark that contains naphthoquinones, including lapachol and beta-lapachone, along with other phenolic constituents.
Fennel (Foeniculum vulgare): seeds contain volatile compounds, particularly anethole and fenchone, along with flavonoids and phenolic constituents.
Ginger (Zingiber officinale): contains naturally occurring gingerols and shogaols, groups of phenolic compounds responsible for much of its signature warmth and spicy flavor.
Oregano (Origanum vulgare): contains rosmarinic acid and aromatic compounds such as carvacrol and thymol. These constituents contribute to oregano's distinctive fragrance and phytochemical profile.
